The department of neurology and neurosurgery at P.K.Das Institute of Medical Science has comprehensive facilities for the investigations and treatment of diseases effecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles.
We have advanced Neuro - Radiologic facilities including Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI),Computer Tomography( CT scan), and neck vessel Doppler. All neurophysiologic investigations like Electro Encephalo Graph (EEG), Nerve Conduction Velocity Study(NCV), ElectroMyoGraphy(EMG), and Visual as well as Auditory Evoked Potentials (VEP & AEP) are also available.
For stroke patients we have facility for thrombolytic therapy as emergency treatment. ICU facility with mechanical ventilator is available for complicated cases. A dedicated physiotherapy unit with all modern equipments is also available for rehabilitation.
Treatment facilities are available for various movement disorders like Parkinson's disease, dystonia, tremor, tics etc. Specific drugs are available for various seizure disorders, according to the subtype of the epilepsy.
Effective treatments are available for common disorders like migraine, neuropathic pain/ numbness, sciatica, trigeminal neuralgia, carpal tunnel syndrome etc.
We are one of the very few hospitals in Kerala with specific Pediatric Neurology expertise. We thus receive many patients with child hood epilepsies and other neurologic disorders, some of them coming from very faraway places.
